Nacho’s life takes a tragic turn when he gets caught up in the dangerous world of his friends, Zarco, Tere, and their gang. After a botched heist, the police chase them, and Zarco is killed while trying to protect Gafitas, who is wounded but escapes. Gafitas, still only a teenager, returns home battered and broken, with his family worrying for him. His father, determined to save him, fabricates an alibi, claiming they were away together to shield Nacho from arrest. During the police investigation, Nacho’s father’s quick thinking catches the police off guard when he hints that he might have bribed officers to cover for his son, revealing a possible connection that could spare Nacho from jail.

In a tense climax, the police demand proof of their story, and it’s only when they realize that the man in a photo is the police officer’s own father that they back off, understanding that Nacho’s father is covering for him. This moment allows Nacho to avoid jail and escape the cycle of crime that had ensnared his friends. Many years later, now a lawyer, Nacho receives a letter from Tere’s sister asking for help to free Zarco from jail. When he visits Zarco in prison, he finds that Tere has already passed away. The story ends with the bittersweet realization that life has been unfair to each of them in different ways. Zarco’s fate was sealed by his choices and circumstances, Tere’s life was overshadowed by her circumstances, and Nacho, by a combination of luck, family support, and perhaps remorse, managed to escape the bloodshed and lawlessness that defined his youth. The ending underscores how life often deals out different degrees of justice and fairness, shaped by both choices and fate. Ultimately, it highlights that while some become outlaws by their choices, fate can still have a final, unpredictable say.
