Our Sunhi

Sunhi returns to her alma mater with the goal of obtaining a recommendation letter to support her application for a postgraduate program in America. She hopes a strong reference will boost her chances. The request sets up the central dynamic between Sunhi and her former professor, Choi Donghyun, as they negotiate the letter's terms.

Donghyun initially tries to dissuade Sunhi, stressing the value of practical experience over theory. He eventually agrees to write a letter, but only if it can be honest; if Sunhi isn't satisfied, she can opt not to use it. The exchange reveals a mix of skepticism and care for his former student.

Sunhi returns the next day determined to obtain a more favorable letter. She persuades Donghyun to rewrite it to say that she was his favorite student. The shift reframes how others will perceive her during the application process.

Sunhi calls her ex-boyfriend Munsu to join her at a nearby fast-food chicken restaurant to discuss a film he made about their failed relationship. Later, Munsu meets Jaehak, a curmudgeonly filmmaker who is also a confidant of Donghyun. During a casual drinking session, Jaehak lends a sympathetic ear to Munsu's lovelorn laments. The talk deepens the sense that Sunhi is influencing multiple lives.

Jaehak encounters Sunhi by chance, and when she asks him out for coffee and drinks, he finds himself drawn to her despite not knowing who she truly is. The interaction marks a shift as Sunhi continues to blur boundaries and identities. He begins to fall under her spell.

Sunhi stays something of a mystery, and the three men begin to believe they know who she is and what she needs. This belief leads each of them to pursue her, effectively depriving her of privacy and a self-determined identity. The dynamic grows increasingly tangled as the days pass.
