In August 1941, three Soviet soldiers who escaped captivity hide in occupied countryside far from the Eastern front. The nearby woods are treacherous and villagers' loyalties are unclear. An elderly local offers help, but he might betray them to the German authorities. The tension grimly heightens when the youngest, a sniper, is the old man’s son.
