Set in 1873 Rio Grande do Sul, a band of German immigrant peasants establishes a brotherly communal settlement guided by the Bible’s moral code. Their economic self‑sufficiency and collectivist way of life provoke hostility among neighboring locals, leading to a series of attacks that end in a brutal massacre.
