Open House

Real estate agent Carl hosts an open house that is interrupted when a man arrives, watches Carl briefly, then hides in the basement. Carl checks the basement but finds no one there. The scene establishes an unseen danger lurking inside the house.

That evening, Alice invites friends for dinner, including Jennie. She confides to Jennie that her ex-husband Josh thinks she is overemotional about selling the house. The conversation hints at the mounting pressure surrounding the sale and the house's uneasy atmosphere.

Alice wakes to find Jennie's car in the driveway and searches the house for her friend. She discovers Jennie dead in the garage with her throat slashed. Her scream reveals a lurking menace within the home.

As Alice screams, a figure crawls out from the crawlspace and seizures her, dragging her toward the dark interior. She fights to break free as the threat closes in. The crawlspace becomes a direct source of danger.

The next day, Lila arrives and is greeted by David, who has chained Alice in the crawlspace. Lila approves of the house and positions herself as part of the murderous scheme. David sets up a video camera to document their acts.

Lila seduces Josh while David films from the doorway. When Lila is ready to climax, she grabs a kitchen knife and stabs Josh in the neck. David cleans up the aftermath, keeping the crime from public view.

Lila disappears for stretches while David handles the day-to-day operations of the house and guards Alice in the crawlspace. He allows her to eat and use the bathroom, but always returns her to confinement when Lila returns.

Two housecleaners arrive unexpectedly, and David kills them to avoid drawing attention. He hides their bodies as part of the ongoing cover-up.

Lila hosts a dinner party with two couples and reveals that David is writing a children's story. It becomes clear that the twins are partners in crime, and Lila seduces the woman in the second couple while David films the scene.

Over the days, Alice grows convinced that David is not an equal partner in the murders and wants to run away together. She secretly grabs a small kitchen knife and takes it with her to the crawlspace.

Lila pretends to be a potential buyer and takes Carl on a tour. In the bedroom, she attempts to seduce him and is aided by David's cleanup as blood soaks through the living room floor.

David packs a suitcase with his belongings and some clothes for Alice as they plan to leave. Lila discovers the suitcase and checks the coolers where the bodies are stored, hoping to find Alice but finding nothing.

Alice looks through a crawlspace hole and stabs Lila with her knife. The two women fight, and the struggle ends with Lila badly wounded. The moment marks a turning point in their deadly dynamic.

A friend arrives to check on Alice and attempts to cut through her chains, but David shoots him. Lila then stabs Alice in the chest, and David and Lila flee as sirens approach.

The film ends with Lila touring yet another new house, declaring that it already feels like home.
