The Princess of Illyria rejects all suitors until a wandering gypsy draws her eye—he is the Prince of Denmark with Kasper Røghat. He enchants her with a noisemaker and a copper kettle, trading kisses for a night in her chambers. When Kasper reports the affair, the king banishes her. She flees to Denmark, becomes a potter, hopes for a happy end.
