A selfish, self‑centered widowed monarch known as King Himself First asks his three daughters to quantify their love. One answers “more than salt,” and he banishes her, convinced love must be measured in wealth or talent. His arrogance leads him to hoard and ruin the kingdom’s salt, only to realize its true value and the meaning of his daughter’s reply, guided by a wise herbalist who teaches him what it means to be a true, wise ruler.
