Ilona Jonsson cons the elderly industrialist Österberg, who, moved by compassion, takes her in because she resembles his lost daughter. The plot also involves Ilona’s father—long presumed at sea but just released from prison—his henchmen Murto‑Kalle and Ventti‑Ville, a rival gang, and the councilor’s relatives protecting a hidden inheritance.
