Oh Darling! Yeh Hai India!

Don Quixote Amrish Puri is a Mumbai don who hatches a bold plan to auction India to the highest bidder. His scheme centers on kidnapping the president, Anupam Kher, replacing him with a lookalike (also Anupam Kher), and using the spectacle to coerce the sale. The plan is grand and reckless, built on a mix of bravado, manipulation, and a show that aims to shock the nation into action.

Hero Shah Rukh Khan is new to Bombay and broke, navigating a city that buzzes with energy, opportunity, and danger. He crosses paths with Miss India Deepa Sahi at a moment when she’s busy living it up, and the two impulsively decide to spend the night entertaining each other in any way possible, setting the stage for a turbulent, comedy-soaked alliance.

Meanwhile, Don Quixote’s son, Prince Javed Jaffrey, has set his sights on Miss India, though she shows no interest in his schemes. The night unfolds as an adventurous misadventure for Hero and Miss India. Along the way, Hero discovers a painful truth about Miss India’s father—he is a drunkard who wants her to enter prostitution—while Miss India learns a sharper, harsher truth about Hero: he carries a brain tumor. The revelations draw the two closer and push them toward a shared goal: to thwart Quixote’s master plan and protect the president.

As the tension escalates, Quixote is killed in riots, and Prince ascends to his father’s throne, deciding to press on with the infamous auction. Disguised as don Quixote, Prince enters the scene with his henchmen, and Hero and Miss India, along with their friends, mount a bold resistance. The group overpowers the cronies, and a dramatic turn of events unfolds: some people saved earlier by Hero and Miss India kill the fake president by forcing a hose into his mouth, inflating his stomach until he explodes.

The confrontation peaks when Prince attacks, sending Hero and Miss India crashing through a glass facade and tumbling toward the street below. In a desperate and ingenious move, they craft a parachute from an Indian flag torn from Prince’s body and make a perilous jump. Prince meets his end in the fall, while Hero and Miss India land atop a double-decker bus roof, where Hero proclaims a hard-won relief to be alive. Miss India later reminds him of his brain tumor, and he reveals that the X-ray she saw had been taken a year and a half earlier, underscoring the film’s mix of danger, romance, and improbable escapes.

Throughout, the film paints a vivid picture of friendship and courage in the face of one wildly overreaching scheme, blending suspense with irreverent humor, and leaving the audience with a moment of quiet reassurance after a night of chaos.
