The willow also seems to exert some control over those who use it, forcing Bear to kiss Nikki near the end despite his resistance.

Bear's wish for Nikki to love him more than anyone in the world appears to manifest as an obsessive, possessive form of love that consumes Nikki's identity. This twisted wish erodes her grip on reality, causing her to become increasingly erratic, violent, and eventually murderous. The wish seems to have created a dark, corrupted version of Nikki that acts on obsessive impulses.

Nikki tells Bear that her estranged father is dying of cancer to gain his sympathy and manipulate the situation. Ian later reveals this was a lie, along with Nikki's earlier claim that she saw Bear as her 'little brother.' These deceptions establish Nikki as a manipulative character whose affection is questionable even before the wish corrupts her further.

Nikki's lie about her father coincides with her first sleepover at Bear's house, where their relationship shifts from friendship to romance under false pretenses.

The final Willow seems to exert supernatural control over Bear, compelling him to kiss Nikki right before he overdoses on oxycodone. This forced kiss fulfills the original wish's twisted logic, ensuring Nikki loves Bear 'more than anyone', even as both of them are trapped in a deadly final moment. The kiss is less about romance and more about the wish's cruel, inescapable nature.

Bear calls to cancel his wish, but the operator reveals a terrifying truth: the wish cannot be cancelled and will only expire when either Bear or Nikki dies. The call takes an even darker turn when Nikki's voice comes on the line, hysterically screaming, suggesting the willow's power can reach her even when she seems distant from Bear.

During the party, Nikki threatens suicide to manipulate Bear into sleeping with her, demonstrating the extreme measures her possessed mind will take. This coercive behavior exemplifies the toxic, controlling dynamic the wish has created, Nikki uses emotional manipulation and threats of self-harm to get what she wants from Bear.
