Adapted from Dostoevsky’s novella, the film follows the Underground Man, a sickly, self‑hating narrator (Henry Czerny) who records a video diary exposing his personal failings and his contempt for modern society. His bitterness erupts during a dinner with former college friends, prompting him to flee to a nearby brothel, where he meets Liza (Lee), a young prostitute.
