Mystics in Bali

Cathy, an anthropologist, travels to Bali to write a book about black magic. She learns from her lover Mahendra that Leák is the most powerful form of black magic, capable of killing. Their relationship heats up as they begin studying the occult together.

After attending a ceremonial ritual, Mahendra agrees to help Cathy study Leák magic. They share a kiss, deepening their partnership, while an unknown woman watches from afar. The moment hints at the danger surrounding the power they seek.

The Queen of Leák appears, but her face shifts with each appearance. She shakes Cathy's hand and vanishes, leaving a severed arm that crawls a short distance before disappearing. The supernatural display foreshadows the horror to come.

On the following night, Cathy and Mahendra bring bottles of blood to satisfy the Queen's thirst. The Queen orders Cathy to return alone, forbidding Mahendra to join her. She carves a spell into Cathy's upper thigh as a mark of the bond between them.

Cathy asks Mahendra to read the spell on her thigh, but he can only decipher the word Leák. At midnight, Cathy ventures into the graveyard wearing a tapis; the Queen appears, and they laugh maniacally and dance together as they transform into pigs.

In a later confrontation, Cathy reveals she and the Queen can communicate telepathically, and she envisions destroying a wall of fire, hinting at unseen killings. That night, Cathy's head, organs, and entrails detach from her body. The head, controlled by the Queen, flies to the home of a pregnant woman and devours the unborn baby.

Cathy's head returns to her body and her illness is cured; the blood she consumed invigorates the Queen's youth and power. The two transform into snakes, and Cathy awakens as a human and vomits mice.

During the night, the Queen and Cathy attack as fireballs to defeat one of the Queen's enemies. An unknown woman witnesses Cathy's flying head, prompting Machesse to alert others who retreat to meditate.

The Queen appears to Cathy as a young woman and detaches her head again. Machesse finds Cathy's headless body and, echoing the emotional rift between Mahendra and Cathy, he tells Mahendra that Cathy is no longer the woman he loves; the townspeople ward off the flying head, and they bury her body to prevent reattachment.

In the graveyard, the Queen and the flying head appear to Machesse and Mahendra. The Queen, revealed as an old rival of Machesse, uses her powers to disinter Cathy's body. The head reattaches, and the confrontation leaves Machesse dead as the Queen's powers surge.

The Queen morphs into a humanoid pig and fights Oka, who stabs her in the heart. An energy clash erupts and an explosion follows. As dawn breaks, both the Queen and Cathy are killed by the sunrise.

With the Queen defeated and Cathy dead, the survivors reckon with the toll of Leák magic. The story closes on the cautionary note about probing dangerous powers and the price that comes with seeking forbidden knowledge.
