Franz Murer, known as the Butcher of Vilnius, was a former Austrian SS officer who established and controlled the Vilnius ghetto in Lithuania during World War II. In 1963, survivors of the Holocaust testify at his trial, seeking justice for the atrocities he committed. Despite overwhelming evidence of his crimes, the trial raises questions about whether the desire to finally close a dark chapter of history outweighs the pursuit of true justice.
