Much Ado About Something

In the vibrant town of Springfield, the community gathers to celebrate its legendary founding father, Jebediah Springfield, with an extravagant parade featuring a newly unveiled statue. However, the statue receives a wave of negative feedback from the townsfolk. Amid the jubilant celebrations, Bart Simpson (Nancy Cartwright) takes a stand against the status quo by activating a fire engine’s water cannon, which drenches Chief Wiggum (Hank Azaria). This act sets off a chaotic battle between the Springfield Police Department and the local volunteer fire department. The pandemonium escalates when a SWAT tank spirals out of control, inflicting damage on the Kwik-E-Mart, causing injuries to both Apu Nahasapeemapetilon (Hank Azaria) and Sanjay (Manish Dayal).

Determined to teach Bart a lesson, Homer Simpson ([Dan Castellaneta]) threatens to expose Bart’s antics unless he promises to abandon his pranking life forever. Yet, Milhouse Van Houten ([Pamela Hayden]) attempts to reignite Bart’s bold spirit, pushing him to embrace his mischievous nature. Despite his initial reluctance, Bart ultimately finds it nearly impossible to resist temptation, leading to failed pranks involving a beehive aimed at Superintendent Chalmers and sabotaging Principal Skinner’s cherry-picker.

As Bart navigates his struggle between good behavior and chaos, he unexpectedly thrives in school and grows closer to his sister, Lisa Simpson ([Yeardley Smith]), who has often felt overshadowed by her family’s lack of recognition for her achievements. Meanwhile, in the hospital, Sanjay expresses his desire to retire from the Kwik-E-Mart, planning to pass the store down to his son, Jamshed “Jay” Nahasapeemapetilon. When Apu returns six weeks later, he discovers the store has been transformed into Quick & Fresh, run by Jay. In a shocking turn of events, Jay reveals that Apu’s gambling habit has left him with the majority ownership, resulting in Jay firing Apu, who is left disheartened and adrift.

Seeking solace at Moe’s Tavern, Apu confides in Moe Szyslak ([Bartlett Robinson]), who facilitates a plan for Homer to use Bart as a tool for revenge against Jay, in a bid to reclaim the Kwik-E-Mart. As Bart’s rebellious nature resurfaces, he devises a scheme to turn off the Quick & Fresh lights momentarily. This small act results in significant consequences: the rapid spoilage of the store’s products sends customers into a frenzy. However, this moment also serves as a testament to Bart and Lisa’s strengthened bond as siblings, though Bart inaccurately interprets “unconditional love” as a reason to continue his destructive behavior without repercussions.

The situation spirals further out of control when a brief power outage leads to chaos, culminating in a fire igniting the store. The firefighters, already worn out from the earlier parade brawl, can only watch in horror as the Kwik-E-Mart succumbs to flames.

In the aftermath of the disaster, Apu discovers a hidden lottery ticket among the ruins—a Big Bang Theory scratch-off with three images of Sheldon Cooper, resulting in a staggering million-dollar prize that allows him to reclaim and rebuild his cherished store. Concurrently, Mayor Quimby devises a plan to demolish the controversial statue of Jebediah Springfield using Wiggum’s tank, but hilariously misfires, causing the tank’s destruction and leaving them both bewildered by their failure.
