The trauma leaves her institutionalized for years, until she becomes a teenager and is released into the care of her Aunt Helen Nicole Majdali Jameson and her cousins, Dylan and Heidi. The quiet years are unsettled when, at the local cemetery, a visitor is killed by a figure dressed as Jingles. Baines (now the mayor) and Guinness respond to the graveyard after the man who found the body warns them that this is only the beginning. The stranger exposes a troubling truth: Baines and the police force (excluding Guinness) allegedly covered up that Jingles was wrongly lynched and imprisoned after Angie’s father and others believed he had tried to abduct Angie at her 4th birthday party, when in reality he had actually saved her from a real child predator.
The stranger’s evidence includes occult objects he found in Jingles’ prison cell, which prompts Guinness to recall that Jingles had chanted something in a strange language as he lay dying. The two rush to gather the items needed to banish Jingles, but the plan is complicated: Jingles confronts them as they leave, killing the stranger and wounding Guinness.
Back at the Jameson house, Angie’s party planning kicks into motion when Melanie — Guinness’ daughter — dresses as Jingles to crash the birthday celebration, only to be struck down by the real killer. Jingles breaks in and murders Heidi, Dylan, and the other revelers, leaving Angie as the sole survivor of the deadly rampage. Some time later, Baines returns with two police officers and finds an hysterical Angie clutching Jingles’ axes, creating the impression that she is the killer. Guinness intervenes to save her as Jingles charges in, striking at Baines and another officer.
