Mother of Tears

Catholic Church workers unearth the remains of a 19th-century church official and discover a chained box-shaped urn alongside the casket. This urn is crucial as it contains relics related to the malevolent witch Mater Lachrymarum, setting the stage for the chaos to come.

The urn is transported to the Museum of Ancient Art in Rome, where Sarah Mandy, an art restoration student, works. The presence of the urn quickly becomes a focal point for supernatural events that will lead to dire consequences.

With assistance from assistant curator Giselle, Sarah opens the urn and discovers a magical tunic inside. Unbeknownst to them, this tunic has the power to amplify Mater Lachrymarum's dark abilities, increasing the threat that looms over them.

While Sarah fetches translation tools, Giselle falls victim to the demonic minions summoned by Mater Lachrymarum. Upon returning, Sarah is horrified to find Giselle disemboweled, realizing the grave danger they are in.

Sarah makes a desperate escape from the museum with the help of a mysterious disembodied voice that opens locked doors for her. This moment marks the beginning of her struggle against dark forces and sets her on a perilous journey.

After the traumatic events at the museum, Sarah reports the incident to the police. She spends the night in a safe space with Michael and his son, trying to piece together the horror of what has happened.

The next day, Michael visits the Cardinal who had sent the urn to the museum, only to find that he has suffered a severe stroke and is in a coma. The Cardinal's last words, 'Mater Lachrymarum,' hint at the growing threat and draw attention to the witch coven.

As chaos erupts in Rome, with suicides and violence rampant, Michael's son is abducted by the witch coven. In desperation, Michael reaches out to Sarah for help, a pivotal moment that deepens their connection amidst the chaos.

Michael decides to seek help from a local priest specializing in exorcisms, but he is brutally captured and killed by the witches. This loss leaves Sarah in a state of mourning and escalates her urgency to confront Mater Lachrymarum.

While at a train station, Sarah is pursued by a faction of witches who are loyal to Mater Lachrymarum. Utilizing her newfound ability to become invisible, she evades both the witches and the police, showcasing her strengths as the story unfolds.

Sarah meets Marta, a benevolent witch connected to her late mother. Marta reveals that the guiding voice Sarah has been hearing is her mother's spirit, igniting a desire in Sarah to fight back against the dark forces at play.

Upon returning to find Marta and her partner murdered, Sarah realizes the danger is even closer than she thought. During her flight, she encounters Michael’s corpse, manipulated by Mater Lachrymarum, forcing her to confront the reality of the evil she's up against.

Driven to find help, Sarah seeks out De Witt, an alchemist suggested by Marta. De Witt provides her a crucial text, 'The Three Mothers,' which could help her locate Mater Lachrymarum's lair, marking a turning point in the battle ahead.

Sarah is captured and brought before Mater Lachrymarum, who has gained even greater powers from the tunic. In a desperate effort to survive, Sarah begins to harness her abilities and fight back against the evil surrounding her.

In a climactic showdown, Sarah courageously strips the magical tunic from Mater Lachrymarum and throws it into a brazier. The lair collapses as the witch is crushed, and Sarah and Enzo escape, their laughter tinged with relief and the weight of what they have endured.
