While wandering, Mona intervenes in a fistfight at a fast-food restaurant, aiding a woman named Bonnie Hunt. Their unexpected friendship blossoms quickly, and Bonnie invites Mona to stay in her home, introducing her to her young son, Charlie.

As Mona develops a bond with Bonnie and Charlie, she finds comfort and a sense of family that she has longed for. This newfound connection helps shape her emotional healing amidst her chaotic circumstances.

Bonnie starts to take advantage of Mona’s telepathic abilities, using them for personal gain such as facilitating ATM withdrawals and extracting tips from nightclub patrons. This manipulation threatens to undermine the friendship they built.
