Ethan Hunt is tasked with recovering a crucial part of the cruciform key that can control the rogue AI. His journey begins as he heads to the Empty Quarter in the Arabian Desert to confront disavowed MI6 agent Ilsa Faust.

Ethan successfully retrieves the first half of the cruciform key from Ilsa Faust while managing to keep her safe from a $50 million bounty placed on her life by an unknown adversary. He cleverly fakes her death to protect her from imminent danger.
