Mendadak Dangdut

Petris is introduced as an egotistical, emotionally charged alt rock vocalist at the start of her career. She argues with her sister and manager Yulia, revealing a volatile dynamic that foreshadows the choices to come.

They are found with a large amount of heroin in their car, belonging to Yulia's boyfriend. They manage to outrun the police and head toward a nearby village where a traveling dangdut concert is happening. The concert's performer has quit, creating an opening for Petris and Yulia to consider joining.

Petris reluctantly agrees to join the group to escape trouble and takes up the stage name Iis. At first reluctant, she sees it as a way to survive and begins to adapt to life on the road.

With the group, Petris lives with Rizal, the group's owner and manager she admires. Yulia begins falling for Rizal, adding tension to their dynamic. Petris focuses on improving her vocals and gaining confidence.

She travels across villages and witnesses poverty and misfortune that many villagers endure. The experience broadens her world beyond personal ambition.

The group becomes famous and receives numerous job offers. The sisters feel relief that they are no longer being pursued by the police.

After several weeks, Petris and Yulia have a big fight that leaves Yulia in tears. The quarrel strains their partnership and tests their loyalty.

Petris chases after her sister and finds her at Rizal's house. Seeing Yulia's pain makes Petris more understanding and empathetic toward others.

They tally the day’s proceeds and decide to leave Rizal's house to seek a fresh start. The move signals a turning point away from their protective host.

As they make their escape, the police close in. Petris tells Yulia to run, taking all the blame for the escape.

Yulia surrenders while Petris is arrested. They are told that the drug charges are no longer pursued because Yulia's ex-boyfriend has been caught.

At the police station they are told they are no longer wanted for the drug charges since Yulia's ex-boyfriend has been caught. However, they must serve time for escaping.

While imprisoned, Petris takes on the role of a singer among the inmates and entertains her fellow prisoners. The experience gives her a new sense of purpose and performance.
