As the sun sets, casting a somber light over the city, Kenny Pantalio (Pantalio), an ice cream vendor for The Sweet Life, stands at a pivotal moment in his life. On a bridge, he crosses paths with Lolita Nowicki (Nowicki), an actuary who shares his feelings of despair. Their conversation flows naturally as they bond over their mutual hardships, discovering that they share the same therapist, Frank. As they wander through the vibrant streets of Chicago and discuss various therapy methods suggested by their common doctor, destiny takes an unexpected turn. A wealthy stranger in a Mercedes mistakes Kenny for a valet and hands him the car keys, prompting Lolita to take the initiative and suggest a spontaneous road trip to the Golden Gate Bridge—where they hope to find comfort in their shared sorrow.

Their adventure takes an intriguing twist at a convenience store, where Lolita’s adventurous spirit leads her to claim that Kenny has a gun. The clerk, although skeptical, insists on seeing the weapon before he hands over any cash. With their deceit exposed, they hastily leave the store, leaving behind a flustered Kenny and a playful Lolita, who playfully chastises him for his reluctance to embrace risk. Their journey continues as they encounter two hitchhikers, Marlon and Brandon (Brandon), who initially decline their offer for a ride.
