As the sun sets, casting a somber light over the city, Kenny Pantalio (Pantalio), an ice cream vendor for The Sweet Life, stands at a pivotal moment in his life. On a bridge, he crosses paths with Lolita Nowicki (Nowicki), an actuary who shares his feelings of despair. Their conversation flows naturally as they bond over their mutual hardships, discovering that they share the same therapist, Frank. As they wander through the vibrant streets of Chicago and discuss various therapy methods suggested by their common doctor, destiny takes an unexpected turn. A wealthy stranger in a Mercedes mistakes Kenny for a valet and hands him the car keys, prompting Lolita to take the initiative and suggest a spontaneous road trip to the Golden Gate Bridge—where they hope to find comfort in their shared sorrow.

Their adventure takes an intriguing twist at a convenience store, where Lolita’s adventurous spirit leads her to claim that Kenny has a gun. The clerk, although skeptical, insists on seeing the weapon before he hands over any cash. With their deceit exposed, they hastily leave the store, leaving behind a flustered Kenny and a playful Lolita, who playfully chastises him for his reluctance to embrace risk. Their journey continues as they encounter two hitchhikers, Marlon and Brandon (Brandon), who initially decline their offer for a ride. Undeterred, Lolita persistently tries to persuade them, until Kenny, exaggerating, claims he has a gun, a ruse that finally convinces the hitchhikers to join them.

Once in the car, the hitchhikers reveal their poignant mission to scatter the ashes of Marlon’s grandmother at a UFO museum. Lolita, touched by their story, unexpectedly decides to give up driving the Mercedes to them, igniting a heated argument between her and Kenny over the snap decision.

The next day takes an unexpected turn when Kenny steals a car, only to find a human kidney in the back seat. A phone call turns urgent as they learn that the organ is overdue for a transplant. They rush to the hospital but are stopped by the police. Thanks to Lolita’s charm, they secure a police escort straight to the hospital. Upon arrival, they receive good news—the transplant was successful, leaving the patient’s family grateful.

The duo’s whirlwind adventure leads them to a motel, where Lolita attempts to initiate intimacy, but Kenny’s admission of impotence throws a wrench in their plans. Just as they try to regroup, the county sheriff arrives, revealing the car’s stolen status and dropping them off at a bus station, where their paths seem destined to diverge.

As Kenny views Lolita’s phone, a trove of secrets unfolds, including provocative messages from Frank that leave her frustrated. Their confrontation escalates, resulting in Lolita opting for a ride with strangers who appear less than desirable. Unaware of her troubles, Kenny remains on the bus until he witnesses her embroiled in a scuffle with her new companions. With tensions running high, Lolita, brandishing a pistol, confronts the situation. Kenny steps in, utilizing his persuasion to demand an apology from one of the aggressors, allowing them to leave with a sense of justice restored. Inspired by the experience, Lolita expresses a desire to continue their journey together, and Kenny agrees.

Their next stop is at Kenny’s former fiancée’s residence, where he seeks closure regarding the unanswered questions lingering from their past. With Lolita’s support, Kenny confronts his past, unveiling the reasons behind her abrupt departure from their wedding day. Mysterious figures, Marlon and Brandon, who have been observing their journey, arrive with a stolen Mercedes, whisking the duo toward their next destination—the museum.

Accommodated in a lavish hotel suite courtesy of Lolita’s finances, they engage in a series of visits that unveil Lolita’s enigmatic background. A poignant meeting with her mother, who battles Alzheimer’s, serves as a stark reminder of life’s fragility. Their shared experience cultivates a profound connection, and together they navigate the complicated waters of inherited afflictions while Kenny becomes enamored with Lolita’s poetic essence.

In the intimacy of their suite, Lolita reveals her creative expressions, leading to a deeper emotional connection that culminates in intimacy. However, when Kenny awakens the next morning to find her gone, he is left with only the faint remnants of their connection. His quest for her leads him to the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, where he encounters Alma, who is on the brink of despair. In a moment of deep empathy, Kenny considers a leap into the unknown, but Alma intervenes. Together, they realize that life, no matter how challenging, is still worth living, and their bond proves strong enough to withstand even the darkest trials.
