Mega Snake

In 1986, young Les Daniels, terrified of snakes, attends a snake-handling ceremony. When he hesitates to hand a snake to his father, the creature bites his father's artery. The father dies within minutes, leaving Les crushed by guilt.

Twenty years have passed. Les remains terrified of snakes and is haunted by his role in his father's death, while his older brother Duff teases him about his trauma. Duff seeks a cure by contacting Screaming Hawk, a Native American snake proprietor.

Duff visits Screaming Hawk, who describes a living, rapidly growing snake named Unteka kept in a jar. The legend warns of the danger it represents to both people and the tribe. Duff is given three rules to keep Unteka contained, then steals the jar anyway.

Duff brings Unteka home and the jar breaks, triggering an immediate growth surge that Les witnesses. That night the snake eats the family cat and then the chickens, quickly decimating the coop before killing the mother who investigates. The threat is suddenly personal and deadly.

Duff seeks help from local exterminators who adv ise stabbing the snake in the head if it isn't fully grown yet. Duff kills Unteka, but the snake revives the next night and kills Duff and the family dog, proving it is far from dead.

Les comes home after a long night and finds the house ransacked. He calls his police officer girlfriend Erin and her ex, Chief Bo, who arrests him on suspicions that he might be the killer. The tension rises as Bo closes in.

Unteka emerges from the woods and attacks a vacationing family, killing the father and injuring the others who seek refuge in their van. Erin arrives at the scene and begins to believe Les's story, though Bo remains skeptical.

Erin discovers a giant snakeskin proving Unteka's continued growth and she and Les seek Screaming Hawk to learn more about the legend and how to stop the monster. Their alliance strengthens as they face the threat.

Bo and his team realize Unteka is real and launch an assault, but the beast overwhelms them. Bo narrowly escapes the initial onslaught before he dies. The exterminators Duff spoke with are later ambushed and killed by Unteka as it continues its rampage.

The 70-foot-long Unteka makes its way toward the county fair, where a guest actor is appearing. The snake begins killing attendees and wreaking havoc in the crowds, including Fay the paramedic partner who is killed off-screen.

Erin is swallowed whole during the chaos at the fair after saving a little girl. She communicates with Les via walkie-talkie, letting him know she is alive, and the team plans a rescue.

Les, Erin, and Screaming Hawk descend into a haunted roller coaster to rescue Erin. Hawk lunges at Unteka, but the monster overpowers him. Les sacrifices by allowing Unteka to swallow him, the beast then dies, and Hawk helps pull Erin free as they escape with the snake's heart.

A few months after the monster incident, Les and Erin marry and start a family, signaling that Les has finally overcome his phobia and rebuilt his life with his wife.
