As automobiles and modernization render his carriage‑driving job obsolete, an older driver falls into desperation and turns to organized crime. When his son follows a criminal path, the father renounces his own wrongdoing, surrenders to the police, and serves time. In prison he finds hope, looking forward to reuniting with his family after both he and his son have repented.
