After suffering a debilitating defeat at the hands of Ip Man, Cheung Tin Chi (played by Jin Zhang) finds himself living a life shrouded in depression and avoiding the spotlight. Opting for a simpler existence, he briefly engages in mercenary work before finally deciding to put his martial arts days behind him and run a grocery store. During one of his delivery runs, he encounters the troubled opium addict Nana (Chrissie Chau), who is deeply in debt to the ruthless Tso Sai Kit (Kevin Cheng) and on the run with her friend Julia (Yan Liu).
Caught in the crossfire, Tin Chi valiantly fights off Kit’s gang single-handedly, demonstrating his unmatched combat skills. However, just as the police arrive, the corrupt nature of law enforcement becomes evident when Kit and his gang are released. In a twist of fate, Nana and Julia manage to secure their release by dropping the name of Julia’s influential brother, Fu (Xing Yu), who is known as the owner of Gold Bar on Bar Street. Eventually, Tin Chi too is released, but the trouble is far from over.
Fueled by revenge, Kit makes it his mission to track down Tin Chi, leading to a night of chaos when Kit’s gang sets Tin Chi’s shop on fire. In a harrowing escape, Tin Chi narrowly avoids disaster with his son, only to be pursued by Kit’s gang and Sadi (Tony Jaa), a dangerous assassin. Seeking refuge, he is offered shelter at Fu’s home and takes up employment at Gold Bar, gradually forming a deep bond with Fu over their shared history in martial arts.
Driven by the need to protect his son, Tin Chi retaliates by destroying Kit’s opium den. Meanwhile, Kwan (Michelle Yeoh), Kit’s sister and the head of the criminal syndicate, wishes to pivot towards legal business practices, a dream that conflicts with Kit’s ambitions. When Kwan approaches Tin Chi with an offer to settle their dispute, he surprises her by refusing the money, earning her respect.
As Kit seeks to break free from Kwan’s shadow, he partners with Davidson (Dave Bautista), who runs a restaurant as a façade for his drug operations. In a brutal turn of events, Kit and his gang force Nana into a fatal overdose, prompting Tin Chi and Fu to storm the syndicate’s headquarters. There, they confront Kit and Kwan, leading to a heated battle where Kwan is forced to confront her brother’s escalating madness.
In a shocking twist, Kwan cuts off Kit’s arm in a desperate bid to rein him in, eventually exposing their drug activities to the press. However, Davidson retaliates by framing Fu for drug charges, leading to his wrongful arrest and imminent death. In a desperate struggle, Tin Chi fights Davidson, reclaiming his confidence and the true spirit of Wing Chun.
Amidst the chaos, the corrupt police commissioner is ousted by his lieutenant for his misdeeds, as Davidson tries to escape only to meet his untimely end at the hands of Sadi, who had been enlisted by Kwan. In the aftermath of the tumultuous events, Tin Chi joyfully reunites with his son and Julia, as they share a meal in Fu’s warm home, symbolizing a glimmer of hope for the future.
