Mafia! unfolds like a sprawling, morally charged epic that stitches memory and motive together through a tapestry of flashbacks, echoing the cadence of classic crime sagas. Aryan Arun Vijay is introduced as the son of Vincenzo Armani Windbreaker Cortino, a formidable mafia boss. The film opens with Aryan stepping out of a Vegas casino, and a narrator lays bare his hard-edged philosophy on life. As he starts the car, it explodes in a sudden, shocking blaze, instantly pulling the rug from under the present moment and sending us spiraling into the past.

The narrative then retreats more than half a century to trace Vincenzo’s boyhood in Italy, where he is depicted as the clumsy, earnest son of a Sicilian postman. A fateful delivery goes awry when Vincenzo’s parcel—containing a mysterious white powder—unleashes a chain of danger. The parcel’s recipient, convinced the delivery boy has witnessed too much, tracks Vincenzo to a street fair and murders Vincenzo’s own father. The boy flees to America, where he wrestles with poverty, builds a life, and ultimately discovers his destiny as a mafia boss, setting the stage for a lineage of power and punishment.

The film then slides back to the near present, where Aryan has just returned from the Korean War. He brings his idealistic Protestant girlfriend, Diane, to meet family at his big brother Joey’s wedding reception, a zesty parody of Connie Corleone’s wedding from another era. The celebrations are rocked when Vincenzo endures a brutal attack, shot 47 times in an assassination attempt that nearly kills him.
