Macario, a poor peasant, longs for a single meal on the Day of the Dead. When his wife finally cooks a turkey, three figures—God, the Devil and Death—appear and ask for a share. He gives only Death, who rewards him with a bottle of water that heals any illness. The miracle makes him richer than the village doctor, drawing the Inquisition’s suspicion.
