Lover, Stalker, Killer tells the disturbing story of how Liz Golyar, driven by jealousy and obsessive love for Dave Kroupa, impersonated Cari Farver, another woman Dave had casually dated. Over the course of the story, Liz’s obsession led her to stalk Dave relentlessly, sending threatening messages to him and his loved ones, and even damaging property. The police struggled to catch her because Cari mysteriously disappeared after her last contact—she was believed to have left her home, and her whereabouts became unknown. Initially, authorities thought Cari was suffering from bipolar disorder and had gone off her medication, which explained her sudden disappearance and erratic behavior.

However, a twist in the case revealed that Liz Golyar had been pretending to be Cari, faking her threatening texts and manipulating the investigation. She had murdered Cari, stabbing her to death around the time she vanished. The evidence against Liz grew stronger when authorities found blood in Cari’s car, Liz’s fingerprints on objects at the scene, and a disturbing image of a foot from what was believed to be Cari’s dead body. Despite the absence of Cari’s remains, these clues convinced the court of Liz’s guilt. Ultimately, Liz was convicted of murder and impersonation, and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
