In the late 1980s Soviet Union, former deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers Kozhemyakin arrives in Yalta for a vacation. He is met at the station by Irina, a van driver. A chance meeting at the resort blossoms into a romance, overcoming their age and class differences. Irina eventually marries Kozhemyakin and relocates to Moscow.
