Lola and Billy the Kid

Osman killed Lola after discovering her sexuality. The two were revealed to be brothers, with Lola having been disowned by their father and Osman for being gay. When Osman learned that Lola was his brother and that she was living openly as a trans woman, he raped her and threw her out, then later murdered her. The revelation comes when Murat confronts Osman at home, and Osman admits to the crime.

Earlier, two of Lola's friends warn Murat that Osman raped Lola after discovering her sexuality, hinting at Osman's violent capacity.

Lola is Murat's older brother. She was disowned by their father and older brother Osman years before the story begins for being gay and living as a woman. Murat discovers this family secret when he learns that Lola is his long-estranged sibling, which explains why Osman had been so hostile toward any discussion of Lola.

Billy pressures Lola to undergo sex reassignment surgery so they can move to Turkey together and live as a traditional couple. Billy sees the surgery as necessary for them to have a future together in Turkey, where their relationship would be more accepted if Lola were legally and physically a woman. However, Lola fears the surgery would change her body and potentially end their relationship, causing conflict between them.

Murat disguises himself as Lola to confront the boys he believes killed her. By wearing Lola's red wig, he hides his identity while seeking vigilante justice for her death. The disguise also represents Murat adopting his brother's identity and taking action, essentially stepping into Lola's world to avenge her.

Murat runs away after discovering that Lola is his brother and learning the truth about Osman's violence toward Lola. The revelation shatters Murat's sense of family and makes staying impossible, especially when Osman denies any knowledge of Lola's whereabouts. The combination of this family secret and his own struggle with sexuality pushes Murat to leave.

By discarding her hijab, she symbolically breaks from the oppressive family legacy and opts to start anew with Murat, rejecting the toxic environment Osman created.
