Seventeen-year-old Murat, a Turkish teenager living in Berlin with his mother and older brother Osman, finds his sense of self squeezed between family expectations and a city that doesn’t always understand him. Since their father’s death, Osman has shouldered the role of the household head, working as a taxi driver and insisting that Murat shed his innocence by taking a girl as a lover. Yet Murat’s emerging sense of his own sexuality collides with harassment from classmates who suspect or mock him for being different, a cruelty rooted in prejudice and the pressures of his Turkish background.

In a parallel thread, Lola, a Turkish man who dresses as a woman, clashes with his boyfriend Bilidikid, a young man pressed to return to Turkey and to undergo sex reassignment surgery. Lola resists, afraid that surgery would push him away from the life he’s built and the people who accept him as he is. When Murat learns that Lola is really his long‑estranged brother, disowned by Osman and their father for being gay, a fragile bond forms across shared pain and secret truths. Murat flees his family home and finds Lola in the bar where Lola works, and the two begin to lean on each other as they try to make sense of their identities within a world that often rejects them.

Tragedy deepens when Lola’s body is found in a river, and Murat is pulled into a cycle of vengeance. Bilidikid—referred to by the nickname Billy—convinces Murat that they must act against Lola’s supposed killers instead of going to the police. Murat, adopting Lola’s look and using her red wig to mask his identity, confronts a trio of boys he believes are responsible. What follows is brutal and fatal: Billy wounds one of them and stabs another, and the second assailant is shot dead. A third boy denies any knowledge of Lola’s murder, leaving Murat with a chilling sense of unfinished business.

Upon returning home, Murat receives a devastating truth: Osman is the real murderer of Lola. The revelation erupts in a tense moment of reckoning as the boys’ mother slaps Osman, and, choosing rupture over complicity, she leaves the house with Murat, discarding her hijab in a symbolic break from a harsh family legacy. The story closes on a note of upheaval and uncertain futures, as two siblings and a mother step into a new, uncertain life, shaped by secrets exposed and a shared decision to walk away from a toxic past.
