Sister Ye lives in a toy‑making village. After her husband dies, her infant son is kidnapped and sold to a wealthy woman in Shanghai. The village is destroyed, forcing survivors to move to the city and keep making toys. Ten years later, Ye’s daughter Zhu’er, a toy designer, is killed while aiding the army. On New Year’s Eve, Ye sells toys on curb, not recognizing the boy buying them as her son.
