Herbert and Bitten enjoy a comfortable life in a charming house with their two children. Herbert teaches at a secondary school and writes poetry, while Bitten works as an engineer at a tie factory. Their household runs smoothly thanks to housekeeper Mrs. Jørgensen, who quits in terror when she sees a mouse. With the help gone, Herbert abandons his teaching job to become a stay‑at‑home dad.
