Lemming

Alain Getty, a home automation engineer, moves to a suburb of Toulouse with his wife Bénédicte to work on a small camera drone at Richard Pollock's tech company. They begin settling into their new life in the south of France. This move sets the stage for the tense events that follow in their home and workplace.

Three months after moving, Richard invites them to dinner at Alain's house. They arrive late and create a scene with their marital problems, while Alice is rude to Bénédicte. A rodent is found lodged in the kitchen sink, and a veterinarian identifies it as a lemming, a Scandinavian animal not native to France.

The next evening, Alice visits Alain at his office and reveals that Richard once tried to kill her, declaring that she is there to see him die. She attempts to seduce Alain, who resists but does not tell Bénédicte about the encounter. This encounter sowds distrust and hints at danger within the marriage.

Alice visits Bénédicte and alludes to having had sex with Alain, then says she feels tired. Bénédicte shows her the guest bedroom, where she creates a mess and ultimately shoots herself. The disturbing events escalate, and Bénédicte considers sleeping in the guest bedroom where Alice died.

Despite Alice's death, Richard and Alain go on a business trip to Biarritz. During the drive, Alain asks Richard if he had really tried to kill Alice, and Richard asks whether Alain and Alice had sex; Alain denies it. The trip deepens the tension between them while away from home.

That evening, Alain calls Bénédicte, who initially doesn't answer, then lashes out. Concerned, he drives home and finds Bénédicte sleeping. He hears noises in the kitchen filled with lemmings and faints, and later wakes in a hospital where doctors say the previous night's events were apparently a dream.

After his release from hospital, Alain and Bénédicte visit Richard's lakeside holiday chalet. Bénédicte behaves coldly, questions Alain about Alice's seduction, and they have sex; when Alain wakes, the car is gone and he learns she has started an affair with Richard. He hitches a ride home and suspects the affair will continue at Richard's house.

Back home, Alain uses his drone to observe Richard's house and discovers Bénédicte with Richard. As their tryst begins, the camera fails and it appears Alice has taken control of Bénédicte to resume life with Richard inside her body. Meanwhile, the lemming is returned to Alain's house by the vet and bites him before disappearing.

The next day, Richard confronts Alain at his workplace with pieces of the drone found in the garden, escalating the mystery and tension between them.

That evening, the 'Alice-Bénédicte' figure visits Alain to propose a deal: if he kills Richard, he will get Bénédicte back. She gives Alain the key to Richard's house and leaves him to decide.

Alain goes to Richard's house and finds Richard and 'Alice-Bénédicte' asleep in the bedroom. He smothers Richard with a pillow, then moves the body to the kitchen and uses the coffee machine and gas stove in a grim display of violence. 'Alice-Bénédicte' follows him in a trance-like state to the car.

The next day in the garden, the couple learns of Richard's apparent suicide by gas explosion in his house. Bénédicte discovers the dead lemming and discards it, while Alain explains the animal's origin from Finland. The film ends with the revelation that Bénédicte is pregnant.
