At twelve, Kathleen lives in a grand house filled with a nanny, a butler and maids, but without a mother; her father is frequently away for work. She imagines a complete family of mother, father and herself, and tells everyone she already has one. This deception prevents her from inviting friends, fearing they’ll expose the truth. She hopes.
