After disarming Damodaran during the gunpoint cab incident, Vishwanathan searches the dead man's belongings and discovers stolen jewellery and letters revealing Damodaran's identity and the desperate financial situation of his family in Kerala. The family faces mounting debts that threaten their properties, and Vishwanathan feels a sense of obligation to help them, likely driven by guilt over being partly responsible for Damodaran's death.

Vishwanathan learns from a newspaper that his mother has died. He returns home to perform the funeral rites and reconciles with his stepfather, whom he had paralyzed years earlier. This event marks a turning point in Vishwanathan's journey toward redemption and family healing.

When private debtors arrive demanding repayment of Damodaran's family debts, Vishwanathan reveals he has already paid back the bank loan on Damodaran's behalf. He also persuades the private lenders to accept 25,000 rupees as an advance repayment from him, with the rest due in six months.
