Shiva, an unemployed engineering graduate, declares his intention to marry Shruti and seeks his family's blessing. The families begin discussions for an alliance, mindful of Shruti’s mother’s terminal illness. Shruti’s father explains that he wants to see his daughter married before she loses her mother.

To honor Shruti’s mother’s wish, the families formally agree to the alliance and start planning the wedding. The elders negotiate responsibilities and the terms of the arrangement. The decision is driven by love, duty, and the hope that Shruti’s mother will witness the wedding.

A friend suggests a consultancy that promises a respectable job for a large fee. Shiva borrows ₹10,00,000 from the bank and pays the consultancy, only to be robbed after withdrawing the money. To cope with the loan, he becomes a cab driver and fabricates an ID and offer letter to hide the truth from Shruti.

A man named Giri asks Shiva to participate in a telephonic interview for a job, and Shiva pretends to be Giri during the ride. The interview goes well, and Giri becomes a real candidate for a position. They celebrate, but Shruti reveals she’s at her friend's office, prompting Shiva to hurry and resolve the deception.

Bhushan has Shruti work overtime and she is exhausted. Shiva discovers Bhushan’s indecent messages and confronts him, beating him. Bhushan retaliates by hiring goons to threaten and expose Shiva’s cab-driver deception to Shruti.

Bhushan stages a team meeting to present Shiva’s cab-driver image, triggering Shruti’s confrontation and a separation. She decides to quit and vows to search for work anew. The couple’s trust is fractured, but a reconciliation seems possible.

A few days later, Shruti’s mother dies and the family attends the funeral. Shruti’s father admits that he had spoken to Shiva about the marriage before inviting his family, explaining that Shiva’s willingness to accept responsibility mattered. Shruti realizes Shiva’s true worth through her father’s candor.

Chari confronts Bhushan about the on-site job being given to a girl, and Bhushan slaps him during the confrontation. The confrontation underscores Bhushan’s ruthless tactics to keep control of the recruitment process. Shruti’s trust in the system continues to erode.

Shruti learns the truth about Shiva’s recruitment through Chari, apologizes to Shiva, and they reconcile. She returns to her office and slaps Bhushan twice for his actions, then chooses to quit and vows to start job-hunting anew with Shiva. Their bond is tested, but resolve to move forward remains intact.

A few days later, Shiva goes for another interview. In the CEO’s cabin, he finds Giri in the top position. Giri explains that his father-in-law had orchestrated the hiring to prove Shiva’s talent, and he offers Shiva a good position in the company. Shiva and Shruti then live happily ever after.
