Viswanathan, a money-minded estate owner, rules from Chinnamalai Estate near Pollachi and plans to marry his daughters to wealthy men. He views wealth as a measure of status and insists his children follow his plans. The setup establishes the central conflict: his daughters' desires vs his control.

Chellappa is an aspiring filmmaker who opposes his father's arrogance. He starts a film company, Oho Productions, and struggles to win his father's support. He tries to recruit Meenalochni as the heroine and enlists Ashok for the screenplay, hoping for funding.

During a sightseeing trip, Ashok bumps into Kanchana and Nirmala, sparking a quarrel. The sisters are incensed by his insolence, and Viswanathan is pressured to fire him. The incident seeds the later tensions over loyalty and wealth.

Infuriated by the dismissal, Ashok pitches a tent overlooking the bungalow and begins a strike to reclaim his job. The protest disrupts the estate and tests the family’s patience. The power dynamics start to shift as his presence becomes a symbol of resistance.

Nirmala accidentally drops a bucket on Ashok's head, and feeling guilty she visits his tent to apologise. Their encounter deepens into love, complicating the already tangled family dynamics and future prospects.

To improve the odds of the matchmaking plans, Ashok asks his friend Vasu to pose as a wealthy elder named Chidambaram. Vasu agrees and arrives at the estate in disguise to influence the marriage prospects.

Kanchana is initially led to believe Chidambaram is a potential suitor for Ashok's wealth. However, she discovers with some relief that Ashok loves Nirmala, not her, and the romantic triangle shifts accordingly.

Believing the disguised elder is a millionaire heir, Viswanathan asks Kanchana for consent to marry him. Kanchana refuses, complicating his plan and forcing him to reconsider the daughters’ affections.

Viswanathan then seeks Nirmala's consent, and she joyfully accepts, aligning with her true love for Ashok. The family begins to open to unconventional matches despite their wealth-driven expectations.

Sachidanandam, Vasu's father who is buying a nearby estate, arrives and discovers that he and Viswanathan are childhood friends. The revelation adds a new layer to the impersonation ruse, deepening the stakes.

To avoid leaving the elder daughter unmarried, Viswanathan arranges Kanchana's marriage to Vasu, still in disguise. The two men exchange glances but Vasu cannot reveal his identity or the arrangement risks collapse.

Sachidanandam returns to Madras to finalize wedding preparations and receives a phone call approving the marriage plan. The plan advances, but the web of disguises continues to strain the family.

On a separate trip, Sachidanandam's car breaks down and he hides in a school teacher's hut, where he finds a photo of Ashok and realises he is the teacher's son. This discovery casts doubt on the entire set of relationships.

Sachidanandam files a complaint over the impersonation, but the truth is eventually revealed to Viswanathan’s daughters at the police station, leading to the withdrawal of the complaint. Faced with their lovers’ steadfast devotion, Viswanathan concedes and allows both couples to marry.
