During the experiment, a containment malfunction occurs when a scientist's Snickers wrapper is sucked into the door, releasing the D-Rex. The creature kills Williams before he can escape the enclosure.

Five years after the incident, dinosaurs have spread onto the mainland, mainly surviving in tropical regions around the equator. Humanity has generally moved past the initial hype, with living dinosaurs being rare and restricted to protected zones.

Reuben Delgado and his daughters are on a boat in the Atlantic Ocean when they encounter a Mosasaur. The creature capsizes their boat, causing chaos. Xavier escapes but is nearly eaten, prompting Reuben to call for help while the family fights for survival in the water.

The team, led by Duncan Kincaid, rescues Reuben and his family after their boat capsizes. They travel to Ile Saint-Hubert, where they plan to retrieve dinosaur DNA samples, despite moral debates about harming the creatures.

While navigating the island, Zora manages to get a sample from a fast-swimming Mosasaur using a dart. The creature reacts aggressively, but the team successfully escapes the attack, with Zora retrieving valuable DNA material.
