Jade and Ed appear to be a perfect married couple in the eyes of their friends and family. Jade, working diligently at a marketing firm, and Ed, a successful heart surgeon, seem to have it all together. However, behind closed doors, their relationship is far from idyllic. Ed is emotionally and physically abusive towards Jade, exhibiting dangerous behavior that escalates over time. In a moment of fury, he brutally tears up a special dress that Jade intended to wear while receiving an award at her job. He accuses her of infidelity with her coworker, Liam, and his aggression manifests in choking, hitting, and throwing her across their bedroom. Ed further controls Jade by demanding she quit her job if she cannot work from home, leading her to a critical decision—she secretly packs her belongings and escapes to live with Leigh.

Ed’s rage intensifies when he finds divorce papers in Jade’s car, culminating in an assault. One day, after leaving work, Jade encounters a mysterious man in a trench coat, who approaches her with a gun but ultimately decides to retreat upon nearly being seen by Liam. At Leigh’s house, Jade confides in her friend about the abuse and her fear that Ed is plotting to kill her. She feels trapped, believing that if she reported him to the police, he would portray her as unstable and leverage connections with Shawn, a figure who supports him.

As Jade and Kayla spend time at Leigh’s home, the atmosphere takes a dark turn when a hitman arrives, having been sent by Ed to eliminate Jade. Ed’s violent tendencies are further highlighted when he discovers that Jade has gone missing from Leigh’s home, leaving behind a disheveled kitchen stained with blood, which he assumed was the outcome of a struggle. In a clever act of self-preservation, Jade has escaped and seeks refuge at a motel, having previously staged the scene to mislead Ed.

Jade begins to psychologically torment Ed in a calculated manner; she replicates the essence of their past while showcasing her newfound strength. Using tactics that include sending him their wedding video from an anonymous number and making emotional dinner reservations at his favorite restaurant adorned with white flowers, Jade works to unsettle him. She replaces slides in a work presentation with haunting images of a skull superimposed over her own face and sneaks into his home to leave behind the shredded remains of the dress he once destroyed.

In a shocking twist, she follows the hitman, Donald, back to his residence, only to witness the tension rising as Ed confronts him about Jade’s survival. However, Donald is soon overwhelmed by his parole officers, thereby allowing Jade to escape again. As Ed spirals into a self-destructive path marked by heavy drinking, signs of his unraveling become apparent—he mistreats his new girlfriend, Diane, confuses her for Jade, neglects his responsibilities as a father, and ultimately loses his job due to his erratic behavior.

Meanwhile, Jade keeps her spirit alive by sending fake photographs of her deceased body to the police, as she continues to haunt Ed further. She plays their shared song through his Bluetooth speaker and fills his home with white flowers as perverse reminders of their shared past.

As the situation reaches a climax, a candlelight vigil is held in Jade’s memory, creating an atmosphere of mixed emotions. During this event, Ed nearly spots Jade amidst the attendees. Unbeknownst to all, Leigh drives to Jade’s motel, closely followed by Ed. In a tense confrontation, Ed attempts to choke Jade, but is abruptly halted when Shawn intervenes, holding him at gunpoint, ultimately leading to Ed’s arrest.

In the aftermath, Jade triumphantly returns home to the safety of Leigh and Kayla, reclaiming her life and overcoming the horrors of her marriage.
