In the glossy corridors of Manhattan’s Upper East Side, Bill Compton lives a life polished by success in the advertising world, surrounded by the comforts of wealth and the expectations of his social circle. Behind the immaculate façade, his family is strained by his daughter’s troubled choices, and the pressures of maintaining appearances begin to crack the surface of his ordered existence. Joan Compton moves through the same elegant spaces, trying to keep the household together while the undercurrent of tension grows ever louder.

When the weight of an unspoken crisis pushes Bill away from his polished routine, he drifts into a dim, downtown bar that feels like another country entirely. There, he encounters Joe Curran, a volatile factory worker whose blunt, often hateful worldview spills out with the same ferocity as the cheap liquor he drinks. The bar’s gritty ambience and the clash of their opposite worlds create a tense partnership that feels both dangerous and oddly compelling, hinting at a fragile alliance forged in fear and a shared sense of dislocation.
