Joan of Paris

In German-occupied France, five RAF fliers, led by Paul, make their way through Paris to find assistance to return to England. They reach out to Father Antoine, a former mentor, who agrees to hide them in his cathedral to evade German authorities.

Father Antoine arranges for the fliers to be concealed in his cathedral, providing a safe haven while they plan their next moves. He also contacts a schoolteacher who agrees to assist in coordinating their escape.

Paul, evading German agents, goes to a café where he meets Joan. He introduces himself using a coded message from Father Antoine, which helps identify him as one of the fliers needing rescue. Their encounter marks the beginning of a closer connection.

Father Antoine arranges a clandestine meeting with a schoolteacher, who promises to facilitate a night-time seaplane rendezvous on the Seine River to evacuate Paul and the other fliers. This plan is crucial for their escape efforts.

While trying to continue his efforts, Paul is captured by the Gestapo due to a lack of Identification papers. However, Herr Funk, the Gestapo officer, surprisingly releases him, attempting to lure Paul into revealing the locations of the other fliers.

After his release, Paul notices that he is being tailed by Gestapo agents. Realizing the danger, he enlists Joan to deliver a map to the rendezvous point to his fellow fliers, who are still hiding in the cathedral.

Paul successfully confronts and eliminates his Gestapo tail, guarding the secret of the fliers' whereabouts. This action helps preserve their safety and keeps the escape plan on track.

Joan is approached in her flat by Herr Funk, who offers her a deadly bargain: her value in exchange for Paul’s safety. She then agrees to expose the hiding place of the other fliers, risking her life for their cause.

Despite her agreement, Joan double-crosses Herr Funk by leading the Germans on a chase through the Paris sewers. Her bravery provides the fliers the opportunity to escape the dangerous pursuit in the chaos.

Joan is captured by the Germans and faces execution by firing squad. Before her death, she sends a message to Paul via Father Antoine, expressing her love and willingness to sacrifice for their shared cause.

Joan bravely faces her execution, wanting her life to serve as a symbol of hope for France's eventual liberation. Her act of courage inspires Paul and the remaining resistance fighters.
