A historical satire that condemns the rising tide of anti‑Semitism in Germany. Based on Lionel Feuchtwanger’s novel, it portrays life in the 18th‑century Jewish ghetto of Württemberg, where Süss (played by Veidt) escapes the ghetto and, with the assistance of a treacherous duke, climbs to a position of power.
