The film captures the transformative energy of a Manhattan club as it evolves from an empty loft into an exuberant, sensual celebration. Leacock, one of two cameramen, used handheld lenses, minimal lighting and close proximity to document the slow, smoldering buildup, creating an intimacy unprecedented in documentary filmmaking.
