Rose arrives at the remote estate hoping for a quiet life, only to find the place haunted not by malevolent specters but by the restless souls of women who never left. The first clue comes when a young man in black—later revealed as Felix—bursts into her villa, explaining that he has been searching for his missing girlfriend, Ann, a nurse who disappeared months earlier. He tells Rose that the “ghosts” she sees are actually the victims’ spirits trying to warn her.

As the night unfolds, the seemingly frail dementia patient Peter Coleman reveals himself to be anything but helpless. He is the notorious “Owl Killer,” a cunning predator who has been luring vulnerable nurses to the isolated property, killing them, and preserving their bodies in a hidden freezer. Peter had even arranged for Macbeth, his complicit wife, to leave a gun for Rose, creating a false sense of security. When Felix tries to free himself, Peter strikes him down, confirming his murderous nature.

Realising the danger, Rose pretends to comply with Peter’s demands while secretly preparing his morning meal. She crushes the beads of the rosary her mother gave her—made from the poisonous Rosary Pea—and mixes the toxin into the food. When Peter collapses from the poison, Rose finally feels the weight lift from her shoulders. The lingering spirits point her to the secret stash where the frozen bodies lie, exposing the full extent of Peter’s crimes.

The police arrive shortly after, discovering the victims’ corpses and the collection of newspaper clippings that Peter had kept as trophies. They identify him as the Owl Killer, but when they search the villa they cannot locate his body. Rose is taken to a hospital, where detectives inform her that Peter may still be alive. The film ends on this unsettling note: the killer’s fate remains ambiguous, leaving Rose—and the audience—to wonder whether the horror truly ended or if the owl’s echo will still haunt her future.
