Jakob enrolls at Institute Benjamenta, run by siblings Johannes and Lisa, to learn servitude. With seven other men he endures Lisa’s odd drills—movement, circle‑drawing, forced servility. Johannes is detached; Lisa slides toward collapse, hinting at incest. Lisa becomes catatonic, and Johannes blames Jakob’s arrival, leaving cause ambiguous.
