Vetrivel Santhanam is an orphan who works as a matchmaker and dreams of striking it rich fast. To secure a quick path to wealth, he enlists a marriage broker to find him a suitable bride, and through this arrangement he meets Thenmozhi Priyalaya, the daughter of a once-wealthy Rathnapuri Zamindar. In a turn that catches everyone off-guard, the two marry soon after their first meeting, setting Vetrivel on a precarious path that blends aspiration with consequence.
After the wedding, Vetrivel discovers that the zamindar has fallen on hard times, losing his palace and sinking deeply into debt—10 crore—and there seems to be no easy way out. Parallel to these domestic tensions, a terrorist cell in Bombay—led by Baski, a doppelgänger for Amalraj—plans coordinated attacks across Chennai. Praveena, Vetri’s neighbor, becomes entwined in the dangerous web as she attracts Baski to her apartment. In a misguided bid to win Vetri’s forgiveness, Bala and Zamindar bring Baski to their flat, mistaking him for Vetri’s boss Amalraj. The situation spirals when Baski is unable to escape and is electrocuted while trying to use a bathroom light, leaving the family to grapple with the fallout of their impulsive actions. Praveena, who witnesses the incident, is pressed by Thenmozhi to stay silent, her own safety hanging in the balance.
To cover their tracks, Vetri, his family, and Praveen relocate the evidence as if it were an unclaimed dead body, enlisting the help of Body Balram. Upon returning home, they are blindsided by television news that their supposed victim is a wanted terrorist, and a 50 lakh bounty is announced by the police. The revelation turns their attempt at a discreet disposal into a high-stakes scramble, forcing them to rethink every move they’ve just made.
Driven by fear and a tightening noose of circumstance, the group contends with the consequences of their decision as the body’s fate intersects with law enforcement and the ongoing threat from the terrorists. The situation escalates when the terrorists capture Amalraj after mistaking him for Baski, pulling Vetri further into a dangerous game where appearances and loyalties clash. When Vetri presents the body to the commissioner, a shocking connection is revealed: Amalraj uncovers a link between the commissioner and the terrorists, allowing them to slip away just as a broader rescue effort begins.
A final confrontation unfolds as a struggle leads to the terrorists’ admission that they were responsible for a bombing in an omnibus at Koyambedu. With Vetri’s improvised courage and the authorities closing in, the police manage to corner the terrorists and seize the situation. In the end, the police commissioner and the terrorists are apprehended, and Vetri walks away with the announced bounty, his hopes of wealth tempered by the extraordinary chain of events that began with a single marriage and spiraled into a city-wide crisis.
