Incident On and Off a Mountain Road

Ellen loses control on a secluded mountain road and crashes her car into an abandoned vehicle. The impact leaves her shaken, and she notices a trail of blood leading into the forest.

Following the bloody trail, Ellen discovers Moonface dragging the other driver's body. She narrowly escapes his pursuit and flees deeper into the forest.

Moonface trails Ellen as she tries to shake him off, using branches and terrain to keep ahead. The relentless pursuit escalates the danger of the encounter.

In interspersed flashbacks, Ellen recalls being trained by her survivalist husband Bruce, learning weapons and guerrilla tactics. The memories emphasize her preparedness and resilience for the confrontation.

Moonface overpowers Ellen and drags her to his workshop, a hidden complex high on a forest ridge above a waterfall. The grim basement becomes a claustrophobic prison for her.

Awakening in the basement, Ellen encounters Buddy, a delusional captive who speaks cryptically about the killer's methods. He seems unsettlingly unfazed by the surrounding horror.

Moonface returns as a generator hums and lights flash, then uses a drill press to remove the eyes of another victim. The ritual underscores the killer's sadistic cruelty.

Buddy manipulates Ellen into attempting to pick the lock binding her with a nail file, enabling her to free herself from the restraints. The moment is tense and fraught with danger.

Ellen fights Moonface and Buddy with a wooden plank, then ascends the stairs and gains the upper hand. She knocks Moonface out a window, where he dangles above the waterfall.

After overpowering Moonface, Ellen finds a gun, a belt, and boots in the workshop and arms herself. She prepares to make her exit from the deadly lair.

Returning to her car, Ellen opens the trunk to reveal the body of her dead husband. The gruesome sight heightens her resolve to stop Moonface’s reign of terror.

In a brutal flashback, it is revealed that her husband Bruce raped her during a violent confrontation. She strangled him with his belt in self-defense, a turning point that fuels her actions.

Carrying the body, she brings him to Moonface's workshop and mirrors the killer by removing his eyes and stringing him up in the front yard.

Before leaving, Ellen shoots Buddy, mimicking Moonface's 'shh' gesture as she ends his life. The night closes with her stepping away from the horrific scene.
