Boston‑trained pharmacist Tom Craig arrives in Sacramento during the fevered Gold Rush, only to clash with corrupt political boss Britt Dawson, who extorts the townspeople for protection money. When Dawson frames Craig by slipping poison into his medicine, a deadly epidemic erupts, forcing Craig to prove his worth by using his medical skills to save the community and expose the villain.
