Alfred Dreyfus, a German‑Jewish captain in the French Army, is falsely charged with treason in a case of anti‑Semitism. Imprisoned, he becomes the focus of novelist Émile Zola’s “Dreyfus Affair” campaign. When the military’s cover‑up is revealed, Dreyfus is pardoned and returns to France, but the scandal forever stains his reputation.
