Raoul's boxing career ends after he breaks his hand during a reckless wager. He punches a door with his bare fist in a trivial bet, causing a serious injury that ruins his chances of becoming the light-heavyweight champion. This injury forces him to leave boxing and take a job at a traveling fair.

After his boxing career ends, Raoul takes a job at a booth where female wrestling champions perform. There he encounters Rosy, an immensely strong and beautiful performer who wins a goldfish at the booth. Raoul is immediately fascinated by her and follows her out, beginning their complicated relationship.

Mike loves Rosy secretly throughout the story. After seeing Raoul defeated in the boxing match and realizing Rosy still loves him, Mike sacrifices his own happiness. He breaks up with Rosy but lets her believe she initiated the breakup, allowing her to return to Raoul without guilt.

Mike suffers a heart attack immediately after breaking up with Rosy. The emotional stress of sacrificing his relationship with her, combined with the heated argument and the realization of what he's lost, proves too much for him. He collapses after Rosy leaves.

After watching Raoul's brutal defeat, Rosy waits for Bill at the gym exit and attacks him, giving him back his own beating. This moment reveals that despite their separation and her engagement to Mike, Rosy still has strong feelings for Raoul and cannot stand to see him humiliated.

At the gala night, Mike publicly announces his future marriage to Rosy. This public declaration creates tension because it forces Raoul to respond, leading him to announce his return to boxing. The confrontation escalates the love triangle rivalry between Mike and Raoul.
