Hunting Elephants

The movie opens with a group of elderly men getting their mug shots taken. Three of them are revealed to have been involved in a bank robbery, along with Yonatan, the grandson of one of the men.

Yonatan, despite his talents, faces persistent bullying at school. This culminates in his suspension after the bullies pressure him into cheating on a test, highlighting the struggles he faces in his daily life.

Distraught by his troubles, Yonatan's mother, Yael, decides to take him to the bank where his father works. This leads them to the bank during his father, Daniel’s, night shift as an overworked security guard.

During the night at the bank, a heated argument erupts between Yonatan and his father, Daniel. This emotional conflict marks a turning point, as it results in Daniel experiencing alarming symptoms that resemble a heart attack.

In a sudden turn of events, Daniel collapses while trying to communicate with Yonatan. In panic, he instructs his son to retrieve his medication from their car, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

As Yonatan rushes to help, he misplaces the car keys, causing a critical delay in retrieving the medicine. This mishap escalates the tension of the moment as both father and son struggle against time.

Upon entering the bank with the medicine, Yonatan accidentally triggers an alarm system. This mistake locks him inside a secure cage, separating him from his father at a moment of critical need.

In the aftermath of her husband's death, Yael approaches the bank manager, Dedi, seeking compensation for their tragedy. However, she is met with indifference as Dedi coldly explains that her claim does not qualify under bank policies.

With no alternative and her job demanding much of her time, Yael seeks help from her estranged father-in-law. She arranges for him to care for Yonatan in the nursing home where he stays with his comatose wife and a friend.

While at the nursing home, Yonatan bonds with his grandfather, Eliahu, and Nick, his grandfather's friend. Their companionship becomes a source of comfort and support for Yonatan during this difficult time.

The dynamics change when Lord Michael Simpson, a financially troubled actor and estranged brother of Rhoda, enters the nursing home. His arrival adds an unexpected twist and opportunities for new alliances.

Motivated by a thirst for justice and dignity, Yonatan teams up with Eliahu and Nick to devise a plan to rob the same bank that led to his father's demise. Their collective experiences provide a unique perspective to their audacious scheme.
