Derek makes an unexpected landing in the bush after spotting a baby elephant, Manu, distressed after losing its mother to poachers. They act swiftly, signaling for help and marking the beginning of an emotional rescue.

Kate offers her veterinary skills to assist with Manu's rescue, feeling a deep connection to the orphaned elephant. She chooses to accompany Manu back to the sanctuary instead of finishing her trip to a luxury lodge.

At the sanctuary, Kate bonds with Manu and other elephants, learning about their plight and the sanctuary's operations. She becomes emotionally invested in Manu's recovery, finding purpose in her situation.
